Biography

Brimming with neon swagger, tongue-in-cheek bravado and fret-board fireworks, Masters of Prophecy is the Ann Arbor-raised, internet-super-charged crew turning synth-wave daydreams into stadium-sized anthems. The project began in late-2023 when producer-guitarist James “Prophecy” Baker (the bald rock-sage whose name inspired the band’s moniker) started uploading playful “what-if” mash-ups of surf-rock riffs and vapor-synth beats to YouTube. Working with co-producer Tease Theory (freckled, big-brown-eyed dynamo) and bassist-visual-director CaptainVR (the “most badass Gorilla Tag player ever,” per early fan lore) and set out to prove that shredding guitars, Bollywood color-bursts and gaming memes could coexist under one retro-futurist roof.

Sonic Calling-Card

Masters of Prophecy describes its sound as “epic melodies that burst with synthwave and metal soundscapes”—a mission statement splashed across the band’s own site mastersofprophecy.com. Imagine The Midnight crash-landing on an ’80s arcade cabinet while Daft Punk hijacks Iron Maiden’s tour bus and you’re in the right neon neighborhood. Their lyrics juggle romance (“Surfing on Love”), geek culture (“Baby, Let’s Code!”), Bollywood-tinged travelogues (“Mumbai Skies,” “Goa”) and over-the-top party rock (“Jugs”), all delivered with a wink and a killer hook.

Breakthrough & Numbers

The tipping point arrived with “Tranced” (Oct 2024): its Blade-Runner-meets-Miami-Vice video racked up 26 million YouTube views in five months YouTube and introduced the band to a global synthwave audience. Momentum snowballed thanks to follow-up singles:

On Spotify the quartet is still a boutique discovery—about 521 monthly listeners—but algorithms are steadily catching on, with “Tranced” and “Midnight Dive (Remix)” leading the play-count charge Spotify.

Influences & Ethos

Raised on Beach-Boys surf harmonies, shreddy ’80s metal solos, Gunship-style retro-synth pads and the big-screen drama of Bollywood composer A. R. Rahman, the band treats genre lines like checkpoints to blast through. Lyrically they champion curiosity, coder culture, romance-in-overdrive and flamboyant self-expression—the same mix of humor and heart that animates Prophecy’s wider creative universe.

Looking Forward

2025 finds Masters of Prophecy balancing viral momentum with grassroots intimacy: interactive lyric polls, open-source remix stems and cameo-laden videos featuring recurring characters from the Prophecy-verse. Their goal? To turn every concert into a technicolor choose-your-own-adventure where “listeners aren’t just fans; they’re co-prophets.”

From dive bars to millions of glowing screens, Masters of Prophecy is proof that in the right hands a freckle-faced surf riff, a neon synth pad and a cheeky grin can still rewrite destiny—one prophecy-fulfilled chorus at a time.
